Christmas In Meridian Festivities This Weekend

  The Christmas Season is here and Meridian will be bustling with activity! Join the party for a variety of Christmas events for the whole family this weekend! The  weekend kicks off Friday evening, Novemer 30th, with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Generations Plaza (804 N. Main Street, Meridian). The event will begin at 6:00 pm with a showing of the animated "How The Grinch Stole Christmas."  Then at 6:30 pm, City Council President Brad Hoaglun and Carolyn Holly of KTVB Idaho''s News Channel 7 will host a magical evening that will include FREE donuts from Krispy Kreme, FREE hot chocolate and coffee from Starbucks, performances from local school choirs, FREE carriage rides, and a visit from Santa!  The Marines Toys for Tots will also be in attendance so don''t forget your unwrapped gift to donate.

  The following morning on Saturday, December 1st, the party will move to Meridian City Hall with the Children''s Winterland Festival from 10:00 am-3:00 pm.  Participation is FREE with a food donation for the Meridian Food Bank!  Activities will include a FREE picture with Santa, cookie decorating (and eating!), trolley rides, face painting, wooden toy building, several Christmas crafts and games, letters to Santa, prizes, and more!

 Plus, NEW IN 2012, there will be a Gingerbread House Contest sponsored by the Meridian Chapter of Modern Woodmen of America during the Children's Winterland Festival!  Cash and other prizes will be given, all to collect more food for the Meridian Food Bank.  Download the contest flyer and rules here.  Make sure you bring plenty of food for the Meridian Food Bank because you''ll use those non-perishable items to cast your vote for the People's Choice Award!  Click here to view the Meridian Food Bank Shopping Lists.

 The celebration conclude later in the evening on December 1st as the Meridian Symphony Orchestra presents their annual Christmas Concert at the Centennial High School Performing Arts Center at 7:30 pm.  The family-oriented performance includes a variety of Christmas favorites and a sing-a-long.  Visit the Meridian Symphony Orchestra website for ticket information.
