Located in downtown Meridian at the intersection of Main Street and Fairview Avenue next to the Rite Aid, the Taste of Chicago was recently ransacked causing the loss of both food product and equipment. Known for serving authentic Chicago style sandwiches and the always unmistakable Vienna hot dogs, this eatery is run by 77 year old Steve DiMaria. DiMaria opened this facility as part of his retirement dream nine years ago and has been serving the public lunch ever since. The City of Meridian is encouraging the community to participate in a Cash Mob on Friday, February 7 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Cash Mob will be in support of this downtown mainstay.
In the words of Mayor Tammy “Local business drives our economy. Every chance we have to support these businesses we must! Please join me in helping this local business recover from this senseless act of theft and vandalism. If we all come out and give support to our friends and neighbors’ businesses we will make a positive impact on our community!” So come on out and have a Vienna hot dog with all the fixings and support this downtown business owner. We look forward to seeing you for another Meridian Cash Mob!
