Auto Maintenance Basics: Engine Air Filter

January 14, 2016

This filter cleans the roughly 10,000 gallons of air it takes for your engine to burn a single gallon of fuel. It traps everything that flies through the air as you drive down the road, including but not limited to, insects, dirt, debris and dust. Without it, these particles would work their way into the engine and cause it to wear out faster.

Driving conditions can affect the lifespan of this filter, so have your technician check it every time you change your oil in order to protect against premature wear and tear on your vehicle.
